Laser Eye Institute History

The History

Dr Haddad Uses VISX Star S4 for Laser Vision Correction in Detroit Considered a leader in his field by both patients and colleagues, Dr. Daniel Haddad has devoted over 2 decades of his practice to excellence in vision correction.

Dr. Haddad founded his practice, the Laser Eye Institute, in November of 1987. In the early 1990's, Dr. Haddad set the standard for making RK surgery safer and predictable with Custom RK; Recently his work on the laser tracker has won him national recognition as a leader in the field of vision correction.

Over the years Dr. Haddad has seen his practice grow into two offices serving a wide array of patient's vision correction needs. Dr. Haddad specializes in customizing a vision correction treatment for each patient. His focuses are in LASIK, LASEK, Multi-Focal IOL, ICL, and Cataract Surgery . His high attention to detail has created a standard of highly successful vision correction.

With the onset of LASIK in the late 1990's Dr. Haddad focus shifted to improving laser vision correction with the goals of making the procedure safer and more accurate. Since then Dr. Haddad has been lectured nationally for his work on the VISX Tracker (the part of the laser that tracks your eye during LASIK) improving the safety of LASIK not only at the Laser Eye Institute, but for all surgeons.

As the Laser Eye Institute grew in 2009 we welcomed Dr. Leland to our practice. Dr. Leland brings over an additional 20 years of experience to the Laser Eye Institute with a focus on managing LASIK patients post operative care.

More recently in 2010 Dr. Haddad shifted his focus to the Iris Registration module (during LASIK it aligns the laser treatment). During his studies he has found multiple ways to improve the alignment method of the VISX laser and was awarded patents on the technology. He used this technology to present a course "Improving Results With CustomVue LASIK" and has presented his course internationally (notably: Excimer Laser Forum; Paris, France. American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons; San Diego, CA. American Academy of Ophthalmology; Boston, MA.)

Dr. Haddad's vision for the Laser Eye Institute is to not only improve the lives and vision one patient at a time, but also a commitment to the advance of laser technology and the LASIK procedure.
